Adaptive martial arts and self defence training suitable for everybody's body
We run adaptive martial arts classes which are inclusive and open to any level of ability, but that's not all! We also run fitness classes, ladies only self defence classes, visit workplaces or host corporate self defence classes, and give talks on the importance of martial arts in the modern world.

What Are "Adaptive" Martial Arts
Adaptive martial arts have a teaching style that is flexible around the needs of the student and a curriculum full of movements designed to adapt to the individual rather than forcing the individual to adapt to the movements.
Adaptation isn't lowering the standard.
It's changing the route.
Our classes are for students that are fit and strong and flexible
and for students that, for whatever reason, aren't, or maybe, aren't yet!
Class names
Yōji, which simply means Youngster, is a class for 4 to 10 year olds. Students in this class wear white T-shirts.
The Kohai and Senpai class names have a deeper meaning. The senpai-kohai (先輩-後輩) relationship is a reciprocal, hierarchical social dynamic in Japanese culture where a senior member (senpai) mentors and supports a junior member (kohai), who in turn shows respect and deference.
Kohai (junior, by belt not age) students demonstrate loyalty, respect, and a willingness to learn as well as using polite, respectful language when addressing Senpai students. The Kohai class is for anyone aged 11 years or older into adulthood, we believe this class is suitable, and taught in such a way, that it's appropriate for a wide range of ages. Kohai students wear heather grey T-shirts.
Senpai (senior, again it's senior by belt, not age) students offers guidance, counsel, protection, and hands-on training. They are expected to act as a positive role model and look out for the junior member’s welfare. Senpai students wear charcoal grey T-shirts.
LOSD is an acronym of Ladies Only Self Defence and is for women aged 11+ who want to learn self defence but not in a uniform and belt wearing martial arts class. It's an ongoing class which has some structure but often follows a different path depending on the relevant questions asked by students during the lesson. We don't offer short courses or anything like that as it is impossible to learn self defence in a one hour per week, 6 week long class.
